Bainbridge State College to hold active shooter drill on Oct. 9

safety_first_WEBAuthorities say a 26-year-old gunman killed nine people Thursday at Umpqua (UHMP’-kwah) Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, about 180 miles south of Portland. Umpqua Community College has about 3,000 students.

It may be timely then that local law enforcement officials will conduct training to respond to any similar situations, if they were to happen locally.

Bainbridge State College will be conducting an emergency training exercise on Friday, Oct. 9th from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The exercise will be a mock “active shooter” event, and will involve local law enforcement agencies and other first responders. This training exercise will be limited to the Bainbridge State College main campus. We would like to inform the public of this event ahead of time to alleviate any concerns about an actual event on the day of the exercise.
