Board members needed for new Bainbridge-Decatur County Recreational Authority

Sports-RecreationThe youth and adult sports programs currently operated by Bainbridge Leisure Services will be operated by a joint Bainbridge-Decatur County Recreational Authority starting January 1, 2017.

The Recreational Authority will be up and running in a planning and preparation mode starting July 1 of this year, and Decatur County government will begin collecting and setting aside money for the authority later this year.

The Recreational Authority, which will soon be in charge of youth baseball, softball and football leagues and other programs offered in Decatur County, will be overseen by a board of directors, consisting of six people. The authority will also have employees to run the recreational programs; likely a mix of current Bainbridge Leisure Services employees and Decatur County employees.
