Greene, Edwards Capture ACC Player of the Week honors
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – No. 2 Florida State turns its attention to rival Miami this week as the Seminoles and Hurricanes meet for the 59th time on Saturday at 8 p.m. inside Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.
Florida State held a two-hour practice at the Albert J. Dunlap Athletic Training Facility on Monday to begin preparation for its biggest conference rival. The Seminoles have quickly moved on from last weekend’s 34-20 win over Virginia.
“We’re getting ready to go play Miami,” Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said. “That’s one of the reasons you come to Florida State is to play in this great rivalry, one of the most traditional rivalries in all of college football. A lot of great tradition, a lot of great history. They’re playing very well right now, probably playing the best ball they’ve played by far.”
The Seminoles have won four straight against the Hurricanes, while Miami owns a 31-27 overall edge in the series. Several players were recruited by both teams while in high school and a combined 57 players from the FSU and Miami rosters played high school football in Dade or Broward County.

Key Seminole contributors enjoyed stellar prep careers in the Miami area, including senior wide receiver Rashad Greene (St. Thomas Aquinas), senior right tackle Bobby Hart (St. Thomas Aquinas), freshman running back Dalvin Cook (Miami Central) and sophomore wide receiver Jesus Wilson (Miami Christopher Columbus) – which should add to the stakes of the game.
Not that the Noles need any extra motivation as a win will clinch the ACC Atlantic Division and a third straight appearance in the ACC Championship Game.

Greene, Edwards Collect Weekly ACC Honors
Florida State senior wide receiver Rashad Greene and junior defensive end Mario Edwards, Jr. captured ACC Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Greene was named the ACC Receiver of the Week for the fourth time this season and fifth time in his career after the Albany, Ga., native recorded a career-best 13 receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown versus Virginia on Saturday. He became the first FSU receiver to have 13 catches since current co-offensive coordinator/wide receiver coach Lawrence Dawsey accomplished the feat in 1990.
Greene leads the ACC in receptions (71) and receiving yards (989) this season. He is 11 yards shy of joining Ron Sellers (1967-68) as the only Seminole receivers with multiple 1,000-yard seasons.
Edwards, Jr. was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week after his dominant performance against the Cavaliers. Edwards, Jr. forced a fumble on Virginia’s first play and never looked back, totaling career highs in tackles (nine) and tackles for loss (4.0) to go along with his forced fumble and a sack. He leads FSU with 10.0 tackles for loss this season.
Edwards, Jr. was also named the College Football Performance Awards National Defensive Lineman of the Week, as well.
Aguayo Named Groza Star of the Week
Redshirt sophomore kicker Roberto Aguayo was named a Lou Groza Award Star of the Week for a third time this season on Monday.
Aguayo made field goals from 40- and 43-yards and all four of his PATs against Virginia on Saturday.
On the season, Aguayo has drilled 16 of 17 field goals and all 41 PATs. His 89 points ranks fifth in the nation this season.
The Mascotte, Fla., native is the reigning Lou Groza Award winner. He has already been named a semifinalist for the 2013 kicker of the year honor.
FSU vs. Miami Storylines
• FSU enters Saturday’s game at Miami on anschool- and ACC-record 25-game win streak, which began with a 21-15 win over Georgia Tech in the ACC
Championship Game on Dec. 1, 2012. Florida State is the 25th team to win 25 straight games in college football history and the first team to win
25 straight since Miami won 34 games from 2000-2003. The Seminoles’ streak is the second-longest streak this century and the third longest
streak in the last 20 years (Miami – 34, 2000-03; Nebraska – 26, 1994-96).
• A win by the Seminoles or a loss by Clemson this weekend will clinch the ACC Atlantic Division and a berth in the 2014 Dr Pepper ACC Football
Championship Game. FSU is looking to make its third-straight appearance and fourth in the last five years in the ACC Championship Game.
• Florida State holds a 9-1 record against in-state foes under Jimbo Fisher (since 2010) and has won four straight versus Miami. It’s the longest
streak in the series since the Hurricanes won six in a row from 2000-2004.
• Saturday’s game marks the 59th meeting between FSU and Miami. The Seminoles are 27-31 all-time versus the Hurricanes, including 17-16 on the
road. FSU is 3-0 against Miami in Sun Life Stadium in the regular season. FSU’s last appearance in Sun Life Stadium came when the Seminoles
defeated Northern Illinois, 31-10, at the Orange Bowl on Jan. 1, 2013.
• The Seminoles have won four consecutive road games against Miami, beating the Hurricanes on their homefield in 2006 (13-10), 2008 (41-39),
2010 (45-17) and in 2012 (33-20).
