The Bainbridge Farmers’ Market opens this fall with fresh produce, local growers and strong community support. With over 8,000 farmers markets across the nation, the growing event has increased tremendously in the past few years. This movement in food purchasing and consumption aims to connect the shopper with the grower and has answered a need nationwide. In an area wealthy in farming and agriculture, Bainbridge is striving to showcase just that.
Starting Saturday October 11th, the square in Downtown Bainbridge will be lined with vendors from the area selling locally grown produce and provisions. “We are more than ready to bring our community together and make the produce we grow in Decatur County more accessible,” states The Bainbridge Farmers’ Market President, Mack Lane. Every Saturday through December from 8am –noon all are invited to join family friendly activities, live music and, of course, great food from people in the community. Downtown Bainbridge has several local restaurants and businesses that are open as well to make Saturday mornings on the square a regular destination. More information and forms (including how to be a vendor) can be found on website www.thebainbridgefarmersmarket.com, Facebook page or from any Board Member. Board Members are Mack Lane, Jessica Grace Allen, Rose Geiger, Carol Dupree, Randy Dupree, Mills Brock, Meredyth Earnest, Natalie Kirbo, Amanda Glover, Amy Wells and Cathy Stevens.
