Decatur County commissioners are inviting citizens and local community leaders to help them celebrate some recent and planned improvements to county-maintained roads.
Tuesday, Sept 23 @ 9 AM: Simmons McIntyre Road CDBG “photo op”. Ceremony with “giant check” at church parking lot next to intersection, North side of Simmons-McIntyre Road near the Florida-Georgia state line on U.S. 27 South.
(The county will announce it has received a $500,000 grant from the federal government’s Community Development Block Grant program to improve the infrastructure of low-to-middle class neighborhoods, in this case, the paving of Simmons-McIntyre Road.)
Wednesday, Sept 24 @ 9 AM: Cooler Road “photo op”. Ceremony at South end of recently repaved section of Cooler Road.
Thursday, Sept 25 @ 9 AM: Carters Mill Road completed CDBG project. Ceremony at North end of Carters Mill Road @ Highway 84.
The purpose of the events are to publicize the achievements by Decatur County employees, primarily Public Works Department, toward “make Decatur County a better place to live.” Participants will include County Commissioners, County Public Works staff, local citizens, media and other interested parties.
