It’s a classic motel with a new look — the former Charter House Inn, which is now the Howard Johnson in Bainbridge, is continuing its transition under the new brand.

The motel is owned by Mike Harrell and Charles Bowles, but joined  the Wyndham Group chain of lodgings back in January 2014. New permanent signs showing the familiar Howard Johnson logo and colors went up this week.

There are other changes underway at the Howard Johnson; the restrooms in the front of the building that are used by customers of the motel’s bar and restaurant were recently renovated. The lobby is currently under renovation.

The owners plan to update the motel’s 86 rooms in the near future, as well.

Because the motel is now part of the Wyndham Group, guests can book reservations online at howardjohnson.com and also get points for stays under the Wyndham Rewards program.
