Taurus USA officially broke ground on the location that will soon house their North American headquarters on Tuesday. Governor Nathan Deal was on hand to help celebrate the official ceremony and joined Bainbridge Mayor Edward Reynolds, County Commission Chairman Pete Stephens, State Senator Dean Burke, State Representatives Jay Powell and Darlene Taylor, as well as Taurus USA leadership to pitch the first shovels of dirt on the site.
“Bainbridge and Decatur County are grateful to Governor Deal for his leadership in making Georgia the number one state in the country in which to do business! ” — City of Bainbridge Public Information Officer Julie Harris
While the shoveling was ceremonial, the construction is not. Plumbing and foundation work has already started and the City of Bainbridge building department is conducting inspections. The 200,000 square foot facility is slated to be complete by January 2020 and will bring more than 300 jobs to Bainbridge and southwest Georgia.
