According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, the Florida panhandle and southwest Georgia will see significant rainfall associated with the storm system moving through the Gulf of Mexico.
From the National Weather Service:
Potential Flooding: At this point, the Florida Panhandle is projected to see the heaviest rainfall with 3-6″ expected. Forecast rainfall amounts gradually decrease to the north and east, with 1-3″ around Tallahassee and Dothan. Isolated heavier amounts are possible across our area. As a result, localized flash flooding could occur, and river flooding could develop later this week through the weekend. See the attached graphic for a map of forecast rain through Thursday.
High Surf & Strong Rip Currents: Surf heights of 6-9 feet are expected today and Wednesday along the coast of the FL Panhandle, with isolated higher sets possible. Very strong rip currents are also possible with strong winds near the coast.
Minor Coastal Flooding Possible: 1 to 2 feet of inundation is possible on Wednesday, with highest amounts along the coast of Apalachee Bay.
