One night, Two Car Break Ins

Bainbridge Public Safety responded to two separate cases of entering autos on Wednesday night.  According to Bainbridge Public Safety incident reports, officers responded to entering auto cases on Mitchell Street and Scott Street in Bainbridge.  The two locations are less than 2 miles apart.

Scott Street

At approximately 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Public Safety Officer Akins responded to Domino’s Pizza on Scott Street in Bainbridge in reference to a case of “entering auto”.  On the scene, Officer Akins made contact with the vehicle’s owner, Damian Hughes, who stated that sometime between 10:10 p.m. and 12:10 a.m., someone had broken into his 2000 Dodge Neon  and stolen several items.  Mr. Hughes told PSO Akins that the doors to his car were unlocked.

Missing from the vehicle were several items, including a Walmart credit card, a wallet containing his driver’s license and bank debit card, as well as a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and a blue iPhone 5S.

Mitchell Street

At approximately 8:51 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Bainbridge Public Safety Officers Raymond Day and Timothy McCain responded to a call from Mitchell Street in Bainbridge in reference to damaged property.  When they arrived, they found the homeowner, Ervin Close standing next to his black Land Rover.  The rear passenger window of the vehicle was broken.

Mr. Close stated that, during the night, he heard a loud thump outside, but didn’t get up to check the noise.  Mr. Close stated that his neighbors sometimes get loud and assumed that was the cause of the disturbance.  However, when he went outside Wednesday morning to take out the trash, he noticed the rear quarter glass of his vehicle was broken and the driver door key hole had been tampered with to the point that his key wouldn’t fit.  After checking all of the doors, he verified they were all locked and nothing was missing from the inside of the vehicle.
