Dothan, AL students, teachers injured after charter buses collide in Tallahassee

Tallahassee Police are investigating an accident between two charter buses carrying students and teachers on a field trip from their school in Dothan, Ala.

At approximately 4:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 two “Southern Coaches” charter buses were travelling northbound on Gadsden Street when the rear bus collided with the bus in front of it, causing an accident which is currently blocking all lanes on Gadsden Street just south of Park Avenue. Patrol Officers from the Tallahassee Police Department and emergency responders responded to the scene of the crash.

The passengers on the buses were school children from Highlands Elementary School in Dothan Alabama. Emergency personnel identified several students with apparent minor injuries (bumps, bruises, nose bleeds). Eight children and two adults were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. The most serious known injury is a broken nose suffered by one of the children.

TPD said they would like to thank Star Metro and the Red Cross for assisting with transportation and comfort for the children and all involved.
