TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The eighth-ranked Florida State football team wrapped up a busy Sunday with an open practice inside Doak Campbell Stadium to highlight day four of #NolesCamp2015. The Seminoles worked in shells for the second straight day but not before participating in media day and then Fan Day at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.

“Practice (number) four, wish we would have started a little quicker (but) I liked the way we finished up,” Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said. “I saw some young guys flash at times. I really liked the board drills, we’re learning to put our face in things, getting our hand placement – a lot of technique that way, offense, defense – pass rush a little better. (We’re) just getting better.”
The morning began with media day inside the Moore Athletic Center where players and coaches spoke with both local and national members of the print and electronic media. The Seminoles also took their annual team photo inside the stadium before breaking off into segment groups on the field.
The football team then headed to the Civic Center for Fan Day where an estimated 5,000 fans were in attendance to see this year’s squad. FSU’s players and coaches interacted with the fans signing autographs and posing for photos. Seminoles fans also had the chance to take photos with Osceola and Renegade as well as with members of 2015-16 spirit squads.
As a token of gratitude for the diehard Seminole fans waiting in line for Fan Day at the Civic Center, Fisher had frozen yogurt delivered from Yogurt Mountain.
“I was driving to the stadium this morning and I saw all of our fans standing outside,” added Fisher. “We’ve got the best fans in the country without a doubt. I wanted to show my appreciation for our fans by getting them some yogurt to help them cool off.”
A busy day concluded inside Doak Campbell Stadium as the Seminoles practiced in shells for the second straight day. Fisher continues to like what he sees from this year’s team but knows that there is still a long way to go before the Seminoles open the 2015 season against Texas State on September 5.
“You saw some technique things I liked a lot better today,” said Fisher. “But, we’ve got a long ways to go, (it was) a solid day. I thought it was a solid day; nothing spectacular, nothing bad, but a good solid work day.”

Head Coach Jimbo Fisher Post Practice Quotes – Aug. 9, 2015
Opening Statement:
“Practice (number) four. Wish we would have started a little quicker (but) I liked the way we finished up. I saw some young guys flash at times. I really liked on the board drills we’re learning to put our face in things, getting our hand placement – a lot of technique that way, offense, defense – pass rush a little better. (We’re) just getting better. You saw some technique things I liked a lot better today. But, we’ve got a long ways to go. But (it was) a solid day. I thought it was a solid day. Nothing spectacular, nothing bad, but a good solid work day.”
On sophomore WR Travis Rudolph’s production:
“I thought on his first day he started off a little slow and I think he was putting a lot of pressure on himself. Then he’s gotten relaxed and started playing and in the last couple of days he’s (run) some really nice routes. (There’s) a lot of detailed things we’re moving him around with and doing things that I’m really pleased with.”
On the young wide receiver’s consistency:
“For this stage, really good. For this stage I’ve been very pleased. But there are still a couple of levels to go.”
On the wide receiver’s leadership improvement:
“Yes, it’s much better. It’s not just the leadership, I just think their urgency as a group to make plays and do the right things.”
On freshman DE Josh Sweat getting his first practice:
“Good. He did yesterday too. You saw the power. Guys, I’m telling you now that guy is so strong. He’s 237 pounds and doesn’t look it. It looks like he’s about 220 – but everything on him is just so (strong). He’s just so powerful. He can hit and bend and he’s got burst and can run. We’ve got to be careful. We can’t let him overload because that was a serious knee injury and it’s not (been) quite a year but we keep giving him more and more and throwing him in there and you see why we recruited him.”
