Bainbridge varsity falls to Worth County, 8-7; Bainbridge freshmen tie game

Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity lost 8-7 on Wednesday after a surprise rally turned a six-run fourth inning advantage into a Worth County victory at Worth County Stadium.

Tyler Storey racked up three RBIs on two hits for Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity. He homered in the second inning and doubled in the third inning.

Even though Denzel Gowdy allowed seven runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory for Worth. Gowdy struck out 10, walked one and gave up seven hits.

Tyler Braswell started the game for the Bearcats, pitching five innings. Braswell gave up three hits, only one earned run on a home run. He struck out seven Worth County batters.

Three errors on the day hurt the Bearcats.

Relief pitcher Stan Long took the loss for the Bearcats.

The top of the second saw Bainbridge take an early lead, 2-0. A two-run blast by Tyler Storey, bringing home Grayson Heard started the inning off.

Worth County didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring four runs in the seventh inning when it scored on two hit into a fielder’s choices.

Bainbridge’s varsity will host Americus-Sumter Panthers at the BHS Diamonds on Friday, March 20 at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on our Flint Media radio station, Live 101.9 FM – WBGE – Bainbridge.

Bainbridge Bearcats Freshman and TCC played to a 3-3 tie on Tuesday at Bainbridge, in a game that lasted nine innings before being called a tie.

Walt Burrell put together a nice outing on the mound for Bainbridge. TCC managed just one hit off of Burrell, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out eight during his six innings of work.

#1 worked out of four tough situations for TCC. He pitched nine innings and allowed one earned run on five hits.

In the top of the second, TCC grabbed the early lead, 3-0. TCC added more runs when Scored on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball.

The 9th grade Bearcats tied the game in the seventh on a passed ball that scored Bowen Dodson.
