The Florida Highway Patrol, Cottondale Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department captured an alleged kidnapper yesterday.
According to a facebook post from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was allegedly taken at gunpoint from Fort Walton Beach, and was unable to flee her attacker until she convinced the man to stop at a truck stop for her to use the restroom. While at the truck stop she used a phone to call police.
A Cottondale Police Officer arrived, but the suspect fled the scene, leading multiple agencies on a high speed chase that reached speeds north of 100 mph. A Florida Highway Patrol Officer was eventually able to perform a “PIT” maneuver that disabled the vehicle and allowed police to capture the suspect.
