The games were hosted by Baconton at the BYSA fields located off Highway 19. Baconton 5/6 year old All-Stars played against the Gillespie Park 5/6 year old All-Stars from Albany.
The first game was won by Baconton All-Stars. The score was 12 – 3. The second game was also won by Baconton All-Stars. The final score was 15 – 10. Since Baconton 5/6 year old All-Stars won the first two games, the third game was not played. During the games, players had 3 pitches and then 2 off the tee in order to get a hit and advance to base.
The Baconton 5/6 year old All-Stars won the District 5 Baseball Championship. They will not have the opportunity to compete for State honors due to the lack of participation state wide in this age bracket.
The team players were Peason Miller, Woodson Willingham, Colin Hooks, Kade Worsham, Bryson Williams, Riley Wynn, Grant Shiver, Noah Parker, Aiden Taylor, Chaveta Santayo, Troy Culp, and Arlie Walker. The team was coached by Head Coach Marcus Tucker, and assistant coaches were Kelvin Hooks, Woody Willingham, and Phil Shiver.
“The boys played great and I am thankful for a safe year. Everybody came together to play as a team. It was my pleasure to to be Head Coach of these boys,” Tucker said.
This is the second year in a row Baconton 5/6 year old All-Stars have clinched the District Championship. Each player received a medallion while the team received an overall trophy for the District Championship.
