According to the incident report, the weapon used was a “bush” ax.
Bainbridge Public Safety originally responded to the call, but because the location was technically in the county, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office responded and took over the scene.
According to the report, after a brief search, Cameron Slade was located across the street in an apartment complex. The alleged assailant also told officials that the victim had “messed with my daughter, so I killed (him)”.
The report also states that Charles Slade (relation unknown) made contact with police after seeing Cameron with the ax in the back of the truck covered in blood and hair.

A Decatur County man is behind bars after allegedly attacking another person with an ax Monday afternoon.
According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Cameron Ashlee Slade, 26, has been arrested after allegedly attacking another person with an ax and then calling 911 to report the assault. According to WALB, Slade told 911 operators that he had just killed someone with an ax, but when first responders arrived on the scene, the victim was still breathing.
The assault occurred on Mount Olive Road around 5:30 Monday afternoon.
According to DCSO Undersheriff Wendell Cofer, the victim and assailant are known to each other, but there is no known familial relationship at this time.
As of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the victim was at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, but their condition is unknown.
