Decatur County… Traffic Shift Coming to State Route 97/State Route 309
Georgia Department of Transportation crews will shift traffic on State Route 97/State Route 309 beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13 to a newly constructed portion of the roadway and bridge. The shift will start just north of Mills Road and extend to just north of the SR 309/SR 97 intersection.
During the traffic shift, crews will also modify and realign the intersection of SR 309 for increased safety. The new intersection will become a 90-degree intersection rather than intersecting on an angle as it currently does. Once the traffic shift is in place, crews will begin removing the old roadway.
As in any work zone, motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits to ensure safe passage though the work zone for the workers present and the motorists traveling through.
