At a meeting of the Bainbridge Decatur County Chamber of Commerce Fair Committee today, a motion was unanimously passed to make changes in the location of the Fall Fair, from the previous location at the Decatur County Fairgrounds, to the Earle May Boat Basin. According to City Manager Chris Hobby, the previous Fair Chairman, Jeff Findley and Mr. Hobby had spent time studying the Boat Basin area and determined that the Earle May Boat Basin was suitable from a security and logistical standpoint.
“Moving the location of the Fall Fair from its longtime hosting location, just off Hwy 97 N, has been in discussion for several years and we are excited with the potential this new location will provide. We have some planning and preparation to do but we feel the visibility from the bypass and the excitement of a new location, will breathe new life into one of the Chamber’s biggest annual events” said Adrienne Harrison, Chamber President.
The Fair Committee also voted unanimously to name the Fall Fair – “The Flint River Fair”, given the new location and proximity to the Flint River. This years Fair dates are Tuesday October 25th through Saturday October 29th, 2016.
This year’s fair company, Jules and Beck Combined Shows, from Columbus Georgia, has been in the amusement industry for over 40 years and pride themselves with having the cleanest and best maintained midway in the business. Jules and Beck will have 18 rides ranging from Ferris Wheel, Merry Go Round, Tilt A Whirl, Circus Train, Bumper Cars, Roll O Planes, to water rides and many other rides geared toward smaller children as well.
Unlimited Ride Arm bands will be sold and are expected to be $20.00 and there are plans to have admission tickets available with discounts for advance purchase.
