The Thomas Co. Sheriff’s Office says the two Thomas Co. inmates who escaped from a work detail last week have been captured.
37-year-old James Waldron and 28-year-old Joshua Fountain walked off from a work detail on Boat Ramp Rd. In Thomas Co. Tuesday.
Fountain was captured around 4 p.m. Friday in Telfair County, Georgia. Less than 24 hours later, Waldron was captured in Dublin, Ga., driving a stolen vehicle.
Georgia Department of Corrections online records indicate Fountain was serving 10 years in prison for robbery by force. Waldron was in prison on a four year sentence for burglary.
The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office had previously indicated Fountain had access to a cell phone and Facebook in prison and may have used it to plan his escape.
After the two men were captured, Thomas County prison warden said Fountain’s sister, Anna Lockett, allegedly helped the two men escape. Lockett is now in police custody.
Waldron and Fountain could serve an additional 1-5 years each if convicted for the escape.
