Bainbridge remains at No. 5 on the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s ranking of the Top 10 teams in Georgia Class AAAA. Here’s what the AJC had to say:
*5. (5) Bainbridge (8-0)
Last week: Beat Dougherty 49-28. Bainbridge moved to 8-0 for the first time since 1960. Dameon Pierce rushed for 191 yards and four touchdowns, giving him a school-record 23 on the season. Tyler Storey had seven catches for 156 yards. Brett McLaughlin passed for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Next: Oct. 30 vs. Westover (1-5)
The teams ranked ahead of Bainbridge on the Top 10 are #4 Mary Persons (7-0), #3 Woodward Academy (7-0), #2 Buford (6-1) and #1 Cartersville (7-0).
While it may be disappointing to see Bainbridge still at #5 on the AJC’s poll, despite having a better record than the higher-ranked teams, the good news is that Bainbridge is finally getting some respect on the Georgia Sportswriters’ Association football poll, which didn’t rank the Bearcats until they were 4-0. Bainbridge climbed from #7 to #6 on the most recent sportswriters’ poll, which is released on Thursdays.
