Thomas County Central Lady Jackets Varsity survives Worth 5-3 thanks to Victoria Parker’s late-game heroics

Victoria Parker drove in the go-ahead run to give Thomas County Central the lead in the sixth inning, as the Lady Jackets hung on to beat Worth 5-3 in softball on Thursday.

Katelyn Hobbs singled to get on base in the sixth. She then went from first to second on a single by Christina Ansley.

TCC staved off Worth as Worth was unable to match TCC down the stretch.

Worth scored one run in the seventh on. Despite its efforts, Worth couldn’t get over the hump.

Kenlie Harvey racked up two RBIs on three hits for TCC. She singled in the first, third, and sixth innings.

Larran Carter got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed three runs over seven innings. She struck out four, walked four and surrendered nine hits.

Caroline Newton was charged with the loss. She lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

Neither team scored until the fourth when Worth got on the board. Worth scored on an RBI double by Brinsley Graddy.

Worth brought home one run in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the fifth, Worth scored on a solo home run by Taylor Layfield.

It didn’t take long for TCC to answer as it scored two runs of its own in the fifth. TCC scored on an error and an RBI single by Carter.
