Early County, GA, commissioners have hired Spencer Mueller to be their new county administrator.
Mueller, also a Blakely native, served as Early County administrator for 13 years before going to work with the Georgia Dept. of Community Affairs in 1998. After retiring from DCA in 2009 he served two years as administrator in Clay County and has been serving as part-time administrator for Georgetown- Quitman County since 2012.
Georgetown, GA, is across the river from Eufaula, AL.
A graduate of Blakely-Union High School, he earned a BS in education at the University of Georgia and masters in public administration at Golden Gate University.
The retirement of longtime county administrator Kathy Howard was announced at the May 4 county commission meeting.
Kathy’s 37-year career with the county began in 1978 when she was hired as assistant administrator. She had served as county administrator since 1998. Her retirement was effective June 1.
