Decatur County commissioners have narrowed down their search for a new county administrator to four remaining candidates, they announced Tuesday afternoon.
Pete Stephens, vice-chairman of the Decatur County Board of Commissioners, said the search committee–himself and fellow commissioners Dennis Brinson and Russell Smith–met after lunch on Tuesday to discuss narrowing down the pool of five they had previously selected out of 21 total applicants.
Stephens said the search committee had eliminated one candidate from consideration and will plan to call the remaining four candidates by telephone before making any further decisions.
“It will probably be Thursday before we choose the 3 finalists [for the position],” Stephens said.
Former county administrator Gary Breedlove’s resignation took effect on April 30. Perry Henry, a Bainbridge accountant, has been serving as interim county administrator since that time.
