TIFTON – More than 1,000 United Methodists from across South Georgia will converge in Tifton at the UGA-Tifton Conference Center June 3-6 for their 2015 annual conference session. Attendees will discuss business, elect delegates to the 2016 General and Jurisdictional conferences and fellowship.

One highlight of this year’s annual meeting will be a free one-hour presentation of Swamp Gravy, the official folk life play of Georgia. The performance, which is open to the community, will begin on Thursday, June 4 at 7:30 p.m. conference center. The Swamp Gravy performance will delight audiences of all ages and backgrounds. The stories celebrate Southwest Georgia’s rural life, culture and diversity. Colquitt’s volunteer actors perform inspiring productions that include comedy, music, and choreography, and tell family stories from daily life, tall tales and Southwest Georgia folklore.

To complement the conference theme of “We’re Better Together” from Matthew 18:20, the South Georgia Conference is partnering with the Society of St. Andrew to host a crop drop mission outreach from 2-7 p.m. on June 5.

The crop drop will be a hands-on mission project that will allow conference participants and guests to join together to make mesh sacks and sort and bag nearly 10,000 pounds of donated local produce. The food will be distributed by the Society of St. Andrew to local individuals and food banks.

The drop will be held on the grounds of the conference center. Participants can drop in anytime during the 2 and 7 p.m. mission event or stay as long as they would like.
