Deadlines quickly approach for study abroad summer program
This summer students are being invited to take courses out of the classroom and even out of the country with the Study Abroad Consortium in partnership with UGA Costa Rica, scheduled June 6 through July 1.
Designed for students at State Colleges of the University System of Georgia, the Study Abroad Consortium offers students the opportunity of a lifetime with a month-long educational experience. Students will study at UGA’s instructional site in the small town of San Luis, Costa Rica, which is adjacent to the beautiful cloud forest of Monteverde.
“Studying abroad gives students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse themselves in another culture, benefitting immensely from cross-cultural interactions which will change their lives forever. Take it from one who knows – I studied abroad in Costa Rica and many other places,” said Raechel Soicher, BSC Psychology instructor and program liaison.
Activities outside of the instructional site include zip lining in the cloud forest, tours of coffee farms, numerous hikes and educational tours, white water rafting, several nights in San Jose, the Costa Rican capitol; and two nights at Costa Rica’s stunning Playa Samara.
Students are required to enroll in two of the three classes being offered, which are Field Studies in Biology (BIOL 1150), Introduction to Psychology (PSYC 1101) and SPAN 1001-2002 (Based on student level).
Bainbridge State will be hosting information sessions on the following dates in Room 961 of the Student Wellness Center: Thurs., Jan.15 at 3 p.m., Tues., Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. and Wed., Jan. 28 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
