ATLANTA — Chase Parrish threw three touchdown passes and unbeaten Colquitt County won the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAAA football title with 28-24 victory over Archer on Saturday night at the Georgia Dome.
It was the second state championship for the Packers, who won their other in 1994, and snapped a streak for four consecutive AAAAAA titles by teams like Archer that are from Gwinnett County.
Sihiem King scored twice, once on a pass from Parrish, and gained 125 yards on 33 carries as Colquitt gave coach Russ Probst his first championship in Georgia after five in Alabama.
Dylan Singleton had three touchdowns for Archer (12-3) and brought the Tigers within four points on a 22-yard run late in the third quarter. But Colquitt was able to run out the clock late to reserve the victory.
Parrish was 17 of 22 passing for 190 yards, his last touchdown a 7-yarder to Qwazavia Lee midway in the third quarter.
