Early voting for the General Election begins on Monday, Oct. 13, at the Fairgrounds, Chamber 1 Building, which is located at 1211 Vada Road in Bainbridge.
The dates and times for early voting are the following:
- Monday, Oct. 13, through Friday, Oct. 17, and Monday, Oct. 20, through Friday, Oct. 24; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Monday, Oct. 27, through Friday, Oct. 31, which is the last day to vote early, is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
No voting will take place on Monday, Nov. 3. Also, there will be no voting at the Office of the Board of Elections and Registration.
On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, polls open at all of the county’s nine precincts at 7 a.m., and will close at 7 p.m.
The U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss will be filled by either Republican David A. Perdue, Democrat M. Michelle Nunn or Libertarian Amanda C. Swafford. Incumbent Republican Gov. Nathan Deal will fend off challenges by state Sen. Jason Carter and Libertarian Andrew Hunt.
There is one countywide race – for solicitor general. Republican Ryan Cleveland is challenging incumbent Democrat Ben Kirbo.
Also, the District 4 County Commission race between Republican Joe Putnal and Democrat Thomas R. “Rusty” Davis will decide which candidate fills the seat of retiring Commissioner Frank Loeffler.
Voters may view their sample ballots by going to the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page. There, registered voters may view their sample ballot, get directions to their election-day polling location, request an absentee ballot and links to the qualified candidates’ webpages.
