Training Captain Dean King of the Donalsonville Fire and Rescue Department has been elected president of the Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA) Board of Directors. GSFA board members were selected by voting delegates at the GSFA annual conference, held September 16th – 20th in Macon-Bibb County.
Dean King has been serving Georgia communities as a firefighter for 35 years and has been an active member of GSFA as a board member since 2008 while his initial membership extends back to 1980.
“I am honored to serve as the new president of GSFA where I will be charged with leading an organization with a rich history of accomplishments and traditions,” said King. “I look forward to representing the membership of GSFA for the next two years.”
In addition to GSFA, King is a member and past president of the Southwest Georgia Fire Chief’s Association, Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs, and serves as an adjunct instructor for the Georgia Fire Academy.
King possesses numerous professional achievements which include Georgia Certified Firefighter; Georgia Certified Fire Instructor; NPQ Fire Instructor II; NPQ Fire Officer IV; former staff member of the Georgia Fire Academy and co-founder of the Southeastern Industrial Fire Training Academy.
