A masked man armed with a handgun robbed the Kangaroo Express store on U.S. 27 North at approximately 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, according to a Bainbridge Public Safety incident report.

An employee of the store told BPS Sgt. Eddie Williams that a man wearing a mask similar to the one seen in the “Scream” movies entered the front door of the store, approached her as she stood behind the counter and pointed the gun at her. The robber, who the employee said sounded like he was possibly in his 20s or 30s, demanded she give him money.

After receiving the money, the robber left through the front door, got on a large baby blue bicycle and rode east on Bethel Road towards Colquitt Highway. At that point, she called 911.

Sgt. Williams took another witness statement from a man who had been driving west on Bethel Road around the time of the robbery. The witness said a small, dark-colored car, possibly a Chevrolet Cavalier, sped out of the entrance of King West Apartments onto Bethel Road and almost ran into the witness’ car.

The suspected is described as wearing a black and white mask, wearing camouflage pants, had what appeared to be a black handgun and was riding a light blue bicycle.

Anyone with more information about the robbery of the Kangaroo store on U.S. 27 North on Tuesday night is asked to call Bainbridge Public Safety investigators at 248-2038.
