The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a 31-year-old man at a mobile home park in Bainbridge on Tuesday night.
Shortly after 11 p.m., Decatur-Grady E-911 received a call of a disturbance at the Shady Acres mobile home park, located near the intersection of Whigham Dairy Road and Old Whigham Road in Decatur County.
Decatur County Sheriff Wiley Griffin said deputies learned there was an altercation involving three men, in which shots were fired.
Chris Strickland, 31, was identified as the deceased victim. Chris Strickland was apparently staying with his brother Josh Strickland, who is a resident at the mobile home park, according to Sheriff Griffin.
A third man, Leroy Wimberly, 48, of Bainbridge, was also shot during the altercation. Wimberly was taken to a hospital in Tallahassee, Fla., for treatment, the sheriff said.
“Josh Strickland is in investigative custody but has not been charged with anything at this time,” Sheriff Griffin said early Tuesday morning. “We are trying to sort out what happened. There is nobody on the loose that we are looking for in regards to this incident.”
Crime Scene Investigator Gale Bowyer is the lead investigator on the case, Sheriff Griffin said.
