Southwest Georgia basketball teams make it far in state tournaments

The Thomasville Bulldogs boys basketball team lost to Pace Academy, 75-48, in the quarterfinals of AA tournament. Their only other loss on season was to Seminole County. Pace Academy also won their semifinal game and advanced to the championship game against Manchester, to be played 3/4/16.

Westover of AAAA lost to Grady of Atlanta, 54-52 in the quarterfinals of AAAA tournament on Friday night.

GHSA Girls

Pelham’s girls lost to Holy Innocents Episcopal, 71-60, on Friday afternoon in the AA girls quarterfinals. The Pelham girls’ final season record is 25-2.

Bainbridge girls lost to Wayne County 47-38 on Thursday night in AAAA girls quarterfinals. Americus-Sumter girls will face Veterans HS (Warner Robins) on 3/3/16.

Turner County and Terrell County’s girls will face eachother in the A-Public championship, to be held 3/4.

GISA Girls

GISA girls’ basketball teams played for spots in the state Final Four next week in Macon. Here are the scores from games involving south Georgia teams.

Westwood 50, Bulloch Academy 48

Westfield 28, Tiftarea 20

Gatewood 56, Valwood 41
