Thomas_UniversityThis week Thomas University announced the creation of the High Achievers Scholarship, which will be awarded to outstanding dual-enrollment students in Brooks, Colquitt, Decatur, Grady, Mitchell and Thomas counties.

“Thomas University is pleased to offer the High Achievers Scholarship to high school seniors in our region,” said Dr. Jill Dennis, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing. “Recent years of renovations and growth have enhanced our ability to better serve traditional-age students. Our highly interactive, student-centered, dynamic learning environment provides an educational experience that explores and develops each student’s full potential. We want area students to consider Thomas University as an option for their higher education goals. The High Achievers Scholarship will assist students committed to academic excellence in affording the best higher education.”

The Level I High Achievers Scholarship is $6,000 ($6,500 for students who live on campus) per academic year. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and at least 12 hours of dual-enrollment credits from any Move On When Ready participating college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA. Applicants are also required to submit essays on provided topics. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 or better GPA.

The Level II High Achievers Scholarship is $4,000 ($4,500 for students who live on campus) per academic year. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.25 or higher and at least 12 hours of dual-enrollment credits from any Move On When Ready participating college or university with a 2.5 minimum GPA. Applicants are also required to submit essays on provided topics. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 or better GPA.

Competition for 2016-2017 High Achievers Scholarships will open Feb. 1, 2016. Thomas University will award up to five scholarships in each category. For more information about the High Achievers Scholarship, contact the TU Office of Admissions at 229-227-6925 or admissions@thomasu.edu.
