Loud music complaint leads to foot chase, cocaine arrest

Bainbridge police made an arrest after finding cocaine when they went to an apartment complex to investigate a loud music complaint on Saturday night.

At about 7 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 12, Bainbridge Public Safety officer Chris Avery and Investigator Chip Nix responded to a call at the Rivers Apartments, 1105 Lake Drive in Bainbridge, about loud music coming from a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found two men, including 23-year-old Markeith Vashon Chrispen, standing beside a parked car.

When Chrispen spotted Investigator Nix, he ducked behind the car and then ran away. As Chrispen fled, officers observed him throw a bag into some nearby bushes. Nix chased after Chrispen and tackled the suspect, who was cursing and resisting arrest, according to a BPS incident report.

After Chrispen was handcuffed, officers searched the bushes for the bag and found 12 small plastic bags containing suspected cocaine.

Markeith Chrispen was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a housing project and obstruction.
