Downtown Cairo businesses are filling their candy dishes in preparation for Friday’s annual Boo on Broad Halloween event for local youngsters. All children 12 and under wearing costumes are invited to trick or treat between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. during Boo on Broad, which is sponsored by the downtown Cairo merchants and City of Cairo Main Street.

To keep the little fairy tale characters and super heroes safe, Broad Street will be closed between M.L.K. Avenue and Roddenbery Memorial Library. Most merchants and government offices between those points will give out candy to costumed children during the two hours.

Trick or treating in Grady County communities will take place the next night, Saturday, Oct. 31. Many homes and businesses in Cairo are showing their festive spirit decked out in fall and Halloween decorations of pretty flowers, pumpkins, scary ghosts and spiders.
