DOT: Railroad Crossing Makeover on Us 19/Thomasville Bypass in the City of Thomasville

Detour Starts This Monday

Thomasville, Ga. – At the request of CSX Railroad, the Georgia Department of Transportation announces a road closure in conjunction with construction on the railroad crossing on US 19 between Commercial Drive and State Route 122 in Thomasville. US 19/Thomasville Bypass will be closed at the railroad crossing and traffic detoured beginning Monday morning, October 12 and remain closed until work is completed on Thursday morning, October 15, weather permitting.

This railway maintenance operation and the road closures is a necessity to calibrate the railway creating a smooth transition for motorists. Motorists will be able to access businesses, schools, and residences in the area up to work zone.

The detour routes will be signed as follows:

  • North Thomasville Bypass (SR 38)
  • Albany Road (84 BUSINESS)
  • Madison Street (84 BUSINESS)
  • Smith Avenue (84 BUSINESS)

US 19/Thomasville Bypass will remain open to local traffic up to work zone.
