Bainbridge Bearcat Softball surrenders sixth inning lead to Thomas County Central in 11-6 defeat
Thomas County Central took the lead in the sixth inning, and the Bainbridge Lady Bearcats was unable to muster a comeback, losing 11-6 in seven innings on Tuesday.
Taylor Swanner racked up two RBIs on one hit for Bainbridge. She tripled in the sixth inning.
Larran Carter recorded the win for Thomas County Central even though she allowed six runs over seven innings. Carter struck out five, walked four and gave up nine hits.
Reilly Fletcher was charged with the loss for the Lady Bearcats. She pitched two innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
In the top of the first, Bainbridge grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Mabry Grace Briggs singled to ignite the Lady Bearcats offense. Mckynleigh Harrell singled, plating Swanner.
Briggs had three hits in the game, while Tykira Adams added two hits for the Lady Bearcats.
Thomas County Central didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring seven runs in the sixth inning when it scored on an RBI double by Kenlie Harvey, a fielder’s choice, and three singles. The Lady Yellow Jackets advanced to the region semifinals.

Abigail Gardner not deterred by lack of offense from Bainbridge Bearcat Softball in 2-1 victory over Cairo
In their first game of the region tournament, Abigail Gardner pitched seven strong innings to carry Bainbridge Lady Bearcats to a 2-1 win over Cairo in seven innings on Tuesday.
Mabry Grace Briggs helped Bainbridge pull ahead for the duration in the sixth inning. After Taylor Swanner singled, an RBI double by Briggs scored Swanner.
Jowers took the loss for Cairo. She lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
The Lady Bearcats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second. After Morgan Cannon singled, Tori Sprenkle doubled, plating Thyra Jackson.
The lone run of the game for Cairo crossed the plate in the third inning on an error.
