Bainbridge Bearcats off to 3-0 start; McLaughlin sets BHS pass completions record

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats won their third game of the season on Friday night, beating the Monroe Tornadoes 34-7.

Bainbridge Junior Quarterback Brett Mclaughlin broke the Bainbridge single game completion record with 22 completions. The previous Bainbridge passing record was 18 completions by Jon Lee vs. Cairo in 2001.

McLaughlin also posted his 2nd straight 200+ yards passing game, completing 22 of 34 passes for 244 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

BHS sophomore receiver Zyon McGee caught 7 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns. BHS senior wide receiver Tyler Story had seven catches for 50 yards. Story leads the Bearcats’ receiving corps with 24 catches for 404 yards on the season.

BHS sophomore running back Dameon Pierce had 19 carries for 101 yards and 1 touchdown.

This Friday night, the Bearcats face the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets, whose only loss so far has been to the Valdosta Wildcats. The game will be played at Centennial Field.
