Built – 1963
Capacity – 63,470
Record Capacity – 66,247 (1993)

The eighth ranked stadium on our countdown is one of the youngest as it was only built in the 60’s but the beautiful landscapes around it have been in the making for centuries. LaVell Edwards Stadium provides one of the most picturesque views in all of sports not just college football. The stadium expanded from only 35,000 seats on temporary bleachers to concrete grandstands and over 65,000 seats in the early 80’s when the Cougar football program was in it’e heyday.

LaVell Edwards Stadium is the home of one of America’s national brand football programs, the BYU Cougars as well as an annual July 4th Freedom Festival and one of the rowdiest student sections in all of college football. With all that said, it’s really hard not to dwell on the asthetic beauty supplied by the gorgeous Cascade Mountains to the East of the stadium. This one is definitely on my bucket list of stadiums to visit before my days on done.
