Bainbridge boys place 2nd in region track meet; girls also perform well

The Bainbridge boys and girls’ track teams competed at the Region 1-AAAA track meet on Friday and Saturday.

The BHS boys’ team finished 2nd out of 11 teams in the team competiton, which was won by Monroe of Albany.

Thomas County Central placed 3rd in the boys’ region track meet and fourth in the girls’ region track meet.

Bainbridge Bearcat boys’ region track results

Chase Harris placed 2nd in the boy’s mile with a time of 4 minutes, 43.81 seconds.

Harris won the boys’ two-mile run with a time of 10 minutes, 7.62 seconds.

Jaylyn Scott won the boys’ 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.55 seconds.

Freshman Poncharella Leonard won the 800-meter run in a time of 1 minute, 59.26 seconds.

Cervantes Jackson won the boys’ high jump and the boys’ triple jump. Jackson had a high jump of six feet and a triple jump total of 46 feet, 9.5 inches.

Victor Bodison placed 2nd in the high jump with a jump of 6 feet and won the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 8.5 inches.

Isaiah Brown placed third in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.33 seconds.

Charles Hightower placed 8th in the boys’ shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 2 inches.

The BHS boys’ 4 x 400-meter relay team placed 4th with a time of 3 minutes, 28.29 seconds.

track_backgroundThe BHS girls’ team finished fifth out of nine teams in the team competition, which was also won by Monroe of Albany.

Uriyah Davis finished third in the girls’ mile with a time of 6 minutes, 0.28 seconds, and she also placed third in the girls’ two-mile with a time of 13 minutes, 19.80 seconds.

Amaia Taylor placed 4th in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 18.61 seconds. Taylor placed sixth in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 53.18 seconds.

Asia Gordon placed fifth in the girls’ shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 4 inches.

Amari Smith placed 8th in the girls’ 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 53.94 seconds.
