Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity outhits Cook County in 5-4 defeat

Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity won the hit battle 5-4 on Friday, but couldn’t push enough runs across to get the win, instead losing 5-4 in seven innings to Cook County.

D Rentz got the win for Cook County. He allowed four runs over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered four hits.

Tyler Braswell was charged with the loss. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out six, and allowed three runs.

Cook County closer Sadler put away the final five outs to record the save.

Cook County never trailed after scoring one run in the third on an RBI single by Z Folsom.

Cook County added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A clutch bases loaded walk scored B Jones to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up with a walk by S Bennett.

After pushing across three runs in the top of the fifth, Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity faced just a 4-3 deficit. An RBI double by Dustin Strickland, a sacrifice fly by Keith Lyle, and an error sparked Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity’s rally.
