Bainbridge Public Safety makes drug bust Saturday

On Saturday, April 18, Bainbridge Public Safety received a tip that a suspected drug dealer was in the Bainbridge area driving a gray vehicle with a Florida tag.

When Officer John Walker spotted a vehicle matching the description, he turned his patrol car around so he could get behind it. Upon doing so, the suspect sped up and ran a stop sign at the intersection of Columbia and West Streets. Officer Walker gave pursuit, following the vehicle as it turned onto Fountain Drive.

Seeing that he had turned onto a dead-end, the suspect stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Officer Walker gave chase and apprehended Dontavious Devario Hicks. Officer Walker was assisted by Officers Trey Mock, Jack Bunting, and Rusty Day.

Seized in the bust was an ounce of crack cocaine, approximately 4 ounces of marijuana, over $400 in cash, and drug related objects.

Dontavious Devario Hicks, age 24, of Fowlstown Road, Bainbridge is charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and several traffic related violations.
