Caleb Varnum helps Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats down Robert F Monroe 8-5

Caleb Varnum went 2-2 as Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats took home an 8-5 victory over Robert F Monroe in six innings at BMS Bearcat Field on Monday.

Varnum singled in the first and third innings.

Wesley Morrow recorded the win for Bainbridge Middle School. He tossed 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered one hit.

Higdon was charged with the loss for Robert F. Munroe. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked three and struck out six.

BMS closer Sam Boutwell put away the final six outs to record the save.

The Bearcats never trailed after scoring three runs in the first on two singles.

Bainbridge Middle School increased its lead with five runs in the third. Varnum started the inning with a single, scoring Boutwell.

After pushing across five runs in the top of the fifth, Robert F Monroe faced just a 8-5 deficit. A two-run error, a walk by Fletcher, a passed ball, and a passed ball set off Robert F Monroe rally. Finally, Boutwell got Jones to strike out to end the threat.

Offensive leaders for the Bearcats included Miles Holloway, who had a two-RBI single, while Chase Harrison, Brad Mitchell and Varnum also had one RBI each.
