Cairo outslugs Thomasville HS in 2-1 defeat

Syrupmakers lost 2-1 in seven innings at Thomasville, GA on Thursday, despite outhitting Thomasville Bulldogs three to two.

Cairo’s Cage Cox got a hit in each of his two at bats. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

Emerson Hancock had an impressive outing against Thomasville HS’ lineup. Thomasville HS managed just two hits off of Hancock, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during his five innings of work.

Thomasville’s starting pitcher, Owen House, allowed one run over five innings, struck out six, walked eight and gave up three hits.

Hancock was the game’s losing pitcher.

Thomasville closer #25 put away the final six outs to record the save.

The lone run of the game for Syrupmakers crossed the plate in the third inning on an error.

Thomasville went up for good in the third, scoring two runs on a single by #22.
