This past Friday, Dec. 20, Bainbridge Public Safety officers were able to take 4 families, including 11 children, shopping today with donations and proceeds from Bainbridge Leisure Services Jingle Bell Jog held last Saturday!

The day began at 10am with the families gathering together with Public Safety Officers outside of the Bainbridge Wal-Mart.  Adults were given shopping cards for groceries and were told to “spend it all!”

Each child was paired with an officer and a Wal-Mart employee and they began “secret” shopping for a brother or sister!  Following the shopping trip, families were treated to a wonderful lunch at Uncle Bill’s Pizza.

Finally, everyone traveled to Public Safety Headquarters where the children and their officer wrapped the gifts.  And what’s a party without Santa?  Yes, Santa arrived and passed out additional gifts and treats to each child.

“Shop with a Cop” was founded in 2012 by Bainbridge Public Safety. BPS partners with Decatur County Schools, the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services, and Family Connections to find families that need a little extra help during the Holiday Season. A big thank you to Bainbridge Wal-Mart and all of the people who gave donations or participated in the Jingle Bell Jog…it could not have happened without you!
