State officials aim to keep hardened gang members out of county prison

14181376694720Georgia Department of Corrections officials told Decatur County Commissioners Tuesday that the influence of national gangs such as the Bloods and the Crips is increasing within the state inmate population. Georgia Corrections officials, including a gang expert, are in Bainbridge today to conduct gang identification training with Decatur County Prison staff.

A Georgia Corrections official said there are 49 state inmates who are from Bainbridge which are classified as validated gamg members.

There are 24 people on probation from Bainbridge who have been identified as validated gang members.
