Bainbridge convenience store robbed Wednesday morning

Early on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 22, Decatur County deputies responded to Mr. Pip’s, located at 875 Colquitt Highway in Bainbridge, in reference to an armed robbery.

Two men came into the store at around 2:30 a.m. and Dep. Vincent Edmond arrived on the scene and found the two clerks/victims standing outside the store near their cars.

Investigators Ken Davidson and Gayle Bowyer were notified and responded to the scene. The store was processed for evidence and investigators studied the store’s video surveillance tapes.

Investigator Davidson said the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office is talking with other law enforcement agencies about recent armed robberies.

Several robberies in Southwest Georgia, including Albany and Tifton, have involved suspects wearing masks that look like the mask from the “Scream” movies.

There have also been another string of robberies involving 3 men with their faces and heads covered who tied up employees of the victim businesses, according to media reports. A Dollar General in Warwick, Ga., and an AutoZone in Cordele, Ga., were both robbed in that fashion during October.

Anyone with more information on who may have committed the robberies is asked to call the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 248-3044.
