News Release

Bainbridge Public Safety has taken out a warrant for 29-year-old Brandi Gaddis in connection with a fire that occurred on Saturday, August 16 at 516 Martin Luther King Drive and injured BPS Captain Shannon Dunaway.

Gaddis, from Lithia Springs, Georgia, is believed to have fled the City of Bainbridge, possibly to north Georgia or Florida. According to witnesses, Gaddis was in a fight with someone two days before the fire, and her friend who lived at the residence, Latoya Hill, “did not help her.” Gaddis filed an incident report at BPS after the fight, claiming to have been assaulted and to have had property taken.

Multiple witnesses put Gaddis’ vehicle at the residence on the morning of the fire. One witness recalled seeing the vehicle near the residence between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. A short time later, the witness saw smoke coming from the home, and Gaddis’ car was gone.

Another witness recalled seeing Gaddis’ car traveling around the residence, just before seeing smoke coming from the back of the residence.

On the morning of the fire, Gaddis went to BPS Headquarters asking for a copy of the incident report from the Thursday fight. She then went to Hill’s workplace and spoke to her manager, asking to have her fired. When the manager refused, Gaddis told her to let Hill know “her house is on fire.”

BPS officials are working with nearby law enforcement agencies in search of Gaddis, who will be charged with Arson in the First Degree. She is a 29 year old black female and is believed to be driving a burgundy Ford Focus with North Carolina plates. It is possible that she fled to either north Georgia or Florida. If you have any information on Gaddis or her whereabouts, please contact Bainbridge Public Safety Investigator Chris Jordan at 229-515-0091.
