Bainbridge property taxes to rise by 54.31 percent; City Council to hold hearings

The City of Bainbridge has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 54.31 percent.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase.

The public hearings will be held at 101 South Broad Street in the City Hall Council Chambers. The first public hearing will be at 10 a.m. on July 30, 2014, the second at 4 p.m. on July 30, 2014 and the third at 6:30 p.m. on August 5, 2014 at the scheduled council meeting at 101 South Broad Street in the Council Chambers.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 5.575 mills, an increase of 2 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 3.572 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $80 increase.
